I must tell u this!
I have to post this post!!
I went for 3 days training, and I must write it down here, so i wil never forget! hee..
1st day
lectures, nothing much. learnt a lot on safety offshore, helicopter.. watched some videos : piper alpha where 176 dead, bekok C fire 1 dead, helicopter crashed, a lot dead.. got scared.. a bit worried about training the next day..
2nd day
HUET ( helicopter underwater escape training) in the morning, start at 8.30am. basically there is 4 stages to it. all before it sinks, i have to use the EBS (emergency breahting system, is like a 2nd lungs to me, i have to breath in heavily and keep the air inside, then breathe the air inside the 2nd lungs while in the water)
stage 1) vertical sinking, without windows : basically we are sitted in the heli, heli sink, i unbuckle my seat belt n come out.
stage 2) vertical sinking with windows : basically we are sitted in heli, helicopter sink, i have to push the window out, unbuckle my sealt bealt, before i can escape.
stage 3) capsized helicopter, without windows : basically we are sitted in the helicopter is sinked, overturned 180 degrees, then we have to unbuckle the seat belt, and come out from the helicopter
stage 4) capsized helicopter, with windows : basically we are sitted in the helicopter is sinked, over turned 180 degrees, we have to push the window open, unbuckle seat belt, and come out from helicopter.
after i passed all those, im impressed with myself, even tho drank quite some water, and suck in quite some chlorine, but at least i survived. or once, i thought i may have lost my life.. but i was glad i still survive..really..
also, i found that calm and peace in mind is reali very important.. if im calm, and not fear, i will be able to perform better.. it reminds me of "what will you do if u weren't fear.. in the cheese story.."
5 steps of brace
1- check loose items
2- check life jacket everything is in place
3- check seat belt is properly buckled, and in the middle
4- hold to the primary exit
5- the other hand hold to the seat for brace
steps to activate EBS
1-deplot the strings
2-put mouth piece into mouth
3- clip on the nose clip
4- take DEEP breathe
5 - activate red knob to close the entrance of air
6 - breahte into 2nd lungs
7 - continue breathing
5 steps to escape from heli
1- stay calm under bubbles all disappear, water clear, no more movement of heli
2- push window out (lash the door)
3- hold on to the window
4- unbuckle seat belt
5 - pull yourself out
*once out to the survive, inflate life jacket
in the afternoon, we had another lecture, about sea survival technique. actually it is very important to know the sea survival technique.. cos u never know when u will need it.. we also learnt the CPR methods..
30 pumps, at the chest (2 fingers above sternum), 2 breathes (make sure chest rise)
3rd day
sea survival practise. we did few activities
1) decending thru knotted rope
2) decending thru ladder
3) use the personal transfer basket
4) use the swing rope
5) use the sramble net to climb up to rescue ships
6) use the life raft
7) flip the life raft over from capsized
8) use coverall to be floatation device
9) jump without life jacket, jump with life jacket
10) HELP position (alone, to keep warm)
11) Huddle position (keep warm in group)
12) tug a victim - concious or unconcious (tired tug)
13) crocodile chain - to move in a line in water
14) enter a life raft
15) exit the life raft
16) life raft management - sea sick pills, paddle, smoke device, radar reflectors
we also learnt firefighting
type A - fire caused by solid
type B - fire caused by liquid
type C - fire caused by gaseous
type D - fire caused by flammable metal (magesium)
type F - fire caused by cooking oil
co2 extinguisher - best for electrical
water good for class A
foam good for class A and B
dry chemical good for almost all classes except electrical appliances
I think i did miss out something.. we did a lot.. and im completly tired..
during the knotted rope decending, my hands were weak.. when i try to grip the rope, i loose my grip, and slided down the rope.. my thigh hit the knots.. there are about 4 of them.. 5m long rope.. i slided all the way down into the water.. and i have to repeat the test again. sobs.. i got my thigh bruised.. very big.. pain while walking..
i volunteered for fire fighting using fireblanket.. cool! hehe..
i also volunteered for overtuning the capsized life raft. =) happy.. even though drank some water oso..
haha.. overall, im satisfied with the training. even though it was tough, but it is imporant for me to know the right way to escape myself from danger.. jia you khaiyi! =)
